EIT Urban Mobility Master School
The European Institute of Innovation and Technology is an EU body created by the European Union to strengthen Europe’s ability to innovate. It is a unique initiative that drives innovation across Europe by bringing together business, education, and research. The EIT is committed to finding innovative solutions to pressing global challenges through creation, cooperation, and innovation.
The EIT Urban Mobility is a Knowledge and Innovation Community of the EIT dedicated to solving the mobility challenges our cities are facing today. Indeed, the world’s cities are undergoing a massive transformation – in how they function and how the people and goods revolve around our globe… – and the EIT Urban Mobility’s master’s programmes are designed to empower those who desire to be part of an innovative and enterprising solution.
The EIT Urban Mobility Master School offers two wide-ranging master’s programmes in partnership with 15 European universities. The programmes – Sustainable Urban Mobility Transitions & Smart Mobility Data Science and Analytics – include extensive training in innovation and entrepreneurship, and the students graduate with an EIT-labeled double master’s degree from two renowned European universities.
In the academic year 2023/24, the EIT Urban Mobility’s master’s programmes will be taught at Eindhoven University of Technology (Netherlands), Politecnico di Milano (Italy), Politechnic University of Catalonia (Spain), KTH Royal Institute of Technology (Stockholm), University of Tartu (Finland), Aalto University (Finland), and Ghent University (Belgium).
All participating students of the two master’s programmes get to travel to a global kick-off event held at the beginning of the academic year. It was Barcelona in 2021, Eindhoven in 2022, and it will be a brand new destination in 2023! Naturally, the kick-off event is full of urban mobility challenges. It focuses on innovation and entrepreneurship by hosting panels, networking, and pitching sessions. Still, there is a lot of fun to be had with a Gala dinner and multiple socializing opportunities with the other students.
When studying with the EIT Urban Mobility Master School, the students also take part in a two-week Summer School between the first and the second year of the programmes. The Summer Schools take place in two European cities, giving the students yet another opportunity to visit places with critical urban mobility challenges. They participate in exciting workshops, work in groups to bring innovative solutions to concrete future-oriented business challenges, and attend inspiring conferences held by key stakeholders from industry and research. In 2022, the two EIT Urban Mobility Summer Schools were hosted by Rennes (France) and Milano (Italy), and Munich (Germany) and Rotterdam (Netherlands).
The EIT Urban Mobility Master School prepares students to become the next generation of innovators and leaders in urban mobility. Through its numerous partners across Europe, the Master School offers excellent exposure to a wide range of career opportunities within the public and private sectors, and it equips its students with the skills and knowledge to start their own businesses or conduct rigorous research.
