Study in Mauritius

A small island nation, Mauritius boasts beautiful scenery and high levels of peacefulness and freedom. As well as this, the country has many natural and man-made attractions, all drawing in tourists. Mauritius can offer international students a great higher education experience, and provides opportunities for employment post-graduation.

Why choose Mauritius as an international student

Comprised of colleges, universities and other technical institutions, the Mauritian higher education system is managed by the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC). There are many private and public universities, including domestic institutions and international campuses. Whilst not earning a large amount of international recognition, institutions in Mauritius offer high quality education to both domestic and international students. Each institution offers undergraduate degrees and postgraduate degrees, in a wide variety of fields.

International Student Visas

Language Requirements

Mauritius does not have any official languages. There are two national languages, which are English and French. You will also hear many other languages being spoken across the island, one of which is Mauritian Creole.

There are programmes offered in several different languages. If you choose to study in a non-native language, you may have to provide evidence of your language proficiency. This differs at each institution, so check with them during your application.

Even if you study in a language that you are comfortable with, you should make an effort to learn as much French, English and Creole as possible. Communicating with the locals and other students is a perfect way to practice. This is a skill that looks great on your CV/resume!
