On this hotel management course, we work with several hotel partners for mentoring, live briefs, placements, internships and visits. These include, but are not limited to; Marriott, The Ivy Collection, Vacherin, Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons, Melia Hotels, Red Carnation Hotels, Firmdale Hotels PLC and Hotelpartner.
You will also benefit from the industry mentorship programme offered by our partner organisations. In each year you’ll be allocated an industry mentor from one of our great partners, here you’ll have the opportunity to learn directly from successful hotel leaders.
Undertaking work experience is an integral part of the BA (Hons) Hotel Management degree. This unique approach to studying at BNU, is underlined by our core belief that practical, hands-on experience must always complement a theoretical, research-informed teaching strategy. That is why, as part of your core curriculum, in year two, you’ll put your skills and knowledge into practice through an integrated internship.
Additionally, you will have the opportunity to engage in co-curricular, by taking part in community projects organised in collaboration with local hotels, as well as attending guest talks, industry visits and a wide range of networking events, conferences and seminars organised by our school and our industry partners.

You’ll engage in real-world, practical activities that will prepare you for a successful entrepreneurial career.

During your time studying on the Hotel and Events Management degree, you’ll have access to our High Wycombe Campus. Here you’ll benefit from state-of-the-art facilities, as well as newly built study and social areas. Our Library is open 24/7 and offers a range of resources to support your studies. We also have a Student Learning Achievement Team, who offer tailored support with research skills, critical thinking and referencing .

As well as this, you’ll have the opportunity to spend time at Missenden Abbey Hotel and Conference Centre, here you’ll put the theory you’ve learnt into practice. It enables a unique, experiential learning approach that will help to cement your knowledge and skills during your studies.
What will I study?
Our BA (Hons) Hotel Management will help you to develop your technical, supervisory and managerial abilities, preparing you for a global industry.
We will combine practical elements of hotel management with an in depth understanding of the potential impacts of the hotels and their role within both the UK and internationally.
You’ll gain a thorough grounding in hotel management and the theoretical principles that underpin this. We also place a strong emphasis on skills development for the workplace, including presentation skills, research, data analysis, budgeting, negotiation and content planning.
During the programme you will spend time in the classroom learning the theoretical elements that underpin your knowledge base. You will also spend time in the working environment of Missenden Abbey and our industry partners, gaining experience throughout the course in: reception, restaurants, housekeeping and conference and events.
This mixture of theory and practice will help ensure the relevance of your studies to employability. This will help you to develop solid business principles, alongside contemporary sector knowledge, and plenty of hands-on experience working in areas related to your field of study.
Your hotel management training will teach you how to develop a business through effective communication using a variety of tools, demonstrating strong consumer understanding and a have mind-set that takes measured risks, that perceives and creates opportunities and has the resourcefulness to pursue opportunities in an ethical and sustainable way.
We balance academic rigour with industry readiness, skills, knowledge, and experience. During this programme you will develop a range of relevant skills and knowledge alongside personal development goals. By linking the programme directly to industry advice and expertise, we will support you to become 'industry ready' from the very beginning of your journey.
You’ll learn about, and reflect on, the impacts of hotels on the environmental, economic, social, and cultural fabric of society. You’ll also be able to recognise and consider the management disciplines which underpin the management of the hotels and their individual operations. You’ll gain a strong understanding of the markets, customers’ needs and behaviour, and other drivers of change that affect the development of hotels and their products from an entrepreneurial point of view. This will help you to develop effective management strategies for hotel organisations and enterprises.
