As part of your application, we'll assess your documentation and advise you of any ancillary courses you may need to achieve your Officer rating.

Following sea time requirements apply:

  • 12 months of approved sea time; if you have not managed to obtain 9 months sea time within 5 years of enrolling on your HND (Start date at your parent college i.e. AMET, BP Marine, MTI etc).
Alternative Route

If you take longer than five years to complete your HND and obtain the minimum sea time you are removed from the MNTB 1+1 overseas route you originally started on and can obtain your EOOW COC using the Alternative Route. MCA guidance on the Alternative Route can be found in MIN 511.
