This course concentrates on expanding students' existing academic or industry specific knowledge and skills, so that on completion, graduates are in a position to secure media based employment.
Media based training, both practical and academic, is at the core of this programme.Ìý Over two semesters students work in real journalistic situations in both print and broadcasting.Ìý National Union of Journalism recognition of the programme entitles full-time students to a one year NUJ Card.
The syllabus has been designed in detail by a representative committee sourced from professionals within the realm of Irish journalism and media. The syllabus has been designed to reflect and adapt to technical, creative and market developments. External contribution to the course design ensures that the course content is relevant to current and emerging job opportunities.

Careers Progression
On successful completion of the course students will be able to assume media-based employment as journalists, radio programme researchers, presenters, producers, technical writers or in other media related positions.Ìý Students will also be encouraged to exploit their undergraduate study in order to secure employment in specialist areas such as science, sport or the humanities.Ìý Graduates of this programme are currently working for major and local media abroad, some in senior positions.
