About MSc International Business (Dual Award), MSc - at Nottingham Trent University (NTU)

Our flagship MSc International Business (Dual Award) degree is a truly exceptional opportunity to gain two Master-level qualifications in just 15 months, giving you a clear competitive advantage. Featuring a highly valuable international internship, as well as the opportunity to study in the UK and abroad, and an in-depth academic project, this is a career-defining degree that will change the way you see the world!

You will begin by exploring the core areas of International Business here at Nottingham Business School. You will then build on this by studying for a term at one of our acclaimed partner institutions:

  • ISCTE in Lisbon, Portugal;
  • KEDGE in Marseille, France;
  • ESC Clermont in France;
  • Brescia University in Italy; and
  • National Sun Yat-sen University in Taiwan

This is followed by a valuable 12-week internship in the UK or overseas, giving you first-hand experience in an internationally focused role. It is an excellent opportunity to immerse yourself in a different culture or get involved in the international activities of a UK business.

In your final semester you will take on an experiential project, giving you a fantastic opportunity to use the theories and knowledge gained to produce a challenging, meaningful piece of work. This can involve addressing real-world challenges in the workplace, conducting independent research or gaining valuable experience internationally.

This degree offers you the opportunity to make a major impact on your career in a relatively short period, broadening your horizons and giving you sought-after international exposure.

Why choose this degree?

  • Graduate with two degrees - one from Nottingham Business School and one from a partner university.
  • You'll study business while providing an insight into cultural and international impacts. It will also provide participants with a greater cultural awareness.
  • The degree is distinctly multidisciplinary in nature and aims to equip participants with a framework for improving their own management action.
  • You'll undertake 12 week internship in the UK or abroad - putting you even further ahead of your peers.
  • The degree includes the opportunity to see industry on an international scale by completing a two-week study tour overseas.
  • You will complete a comprehensive development programme, which includes a short residential team-building course, normally held in the Peak District.
  • NTU's teaching and learning is gold-rated by the government's Teaching Excellence Framework - that means you can count on outstanding teaching and learning, an education that's truly focused on the workplace, and fantastic support in and outside of the classroom.

More than a degree

When you graduate, you will not only receive an MSc International Business degree from Nottingham Business School, but also a degree from one of our partner institutions ISCTE in Lisbon, Portugal; KEDGE in Marseille and ESC Clermont in France; Brescia University in Italy and National Sun Yat-sen University in Taiwan.

How you're taught

International Study tour

All International Business Students get the chance to go on a two-week study tour. The cost of the trip is covered by your tuition fees, and all students will be provided with help and support in applying for the necessary visas.

The destination and style of the trip varies each year, but previous destinations have included Lisbon, Brescia and Venice.

Browse through a selection of photos taken on previous trips .

While abroad you will have the chance to take part in a number of activities, including industry visits, networking opportunities, attending lectures and seminars at a summer school, and of course some sight-seeing. The trip is also normally linked to your consultancy project, giving you the opportunity to meet the organisation you are working for, and present your ideas directly back to them.

The trip has proven itself to be a key factor in the success of the programme, with students benefiting from the business and cultural aspects of it. Some students have also been successful in securing internships with organisations involved.

Study and support

Teaching and learning methods are centred around interactive workshops which are highly participative in nature and will employ case studies, discussions, business simulations and group activities.

Interactivity is key to our teaching and we are committed to providing courses that adopt teaching methods that are appropriate to the student cohort and the specific modules.

We ensure that support and guidance is in place, especially during the early stages of the course and assessment periods, to help you become comfortable with operating in a student-centred learning environment.

Assessment methods

A range of assessment methods are used across the course, the choice of which reflects the needs and demands of the different types of module. Some modules will assess the ability to work collaboratively in a team and others will assess individual capability. Types of assessment will range from examinations to group presentations including essays, reports, financial analyses, literature reviews and research-based projects.

The interactive nature of the taught sessions offers opportunities to gain feedback on your performance before being formally assessed and increasing use is made of eLearning to further support the feedback process.

Induction

All our courses begin with a comprehensive development programme that will help you prepare for your studies and develop key academic and transferable skills. A key feature is a short residential team-building course, normally in the Peak District.

Browse through a selection of photos from our residential weekends.

You will also have opportunities to meet members of the teaching team and other postgraduate students, receive detailed programme information, and gain valuable support and guidance from the library, careers service, international office and Student Support Services.
