About Applying Radiography, MSc, PG Dip, Postgraduate Certificate - at Sheffield Hallam University

It is also of interest to - diagnostic radiographers with a gap in their professional working life who wish to return to practice - new graduates who would like to continue their academic development prior to gaining employment The course is modular and builds on your clinical and undergraduate experience. It allows you to advance your practice by appling knowledge which is supported by a strong evidence base. You learn to evaluate your practice critically through an evidence-based approach. You cater for your own professional development needs by choosing assignment topics related to your interests. We deliver the course using face-to-face teaching but it also requires engagement and independent learning away from the classroom. The course is structured to allow you to meet Health Professions Council (HPC) registration requirements after completing it. This means that if you start the course without registration, you develop the skills and knowledge needed for you to successfully apply for HPC registration. The HPC is a separate registering body and attending this course does not guarantee HPC registration. If you already have HPC registration you may be able to complete a clinical placement in the UK health service. The course is clinically relevant to diagnostic radiographic practice both in the UK and internationally. Students come from various cultural backgrounds and bring varied experiences with them. This diversity enriches the student experience and encourages the sharing of ideas and experience, comparing and contrasting clinical experiences and backgrounds. Sheffield Hallam has a well-equipped department including - a functioning X-ray room - two ultrasound machines - digital editing suite. The course is led by the diagnostic imaging team who are all registered and experienced diagnostic radiographers. The team has a wealth of international experience and specialist expertise in research, education and autonomous clinical practice. Key research fields which the team supports are - the history of radiology - radiographic education - 3D breast ultrasound - the use of ultrasound in monitoring aneurysm size - computer modeling - digital imaging - radiation protection - protocol development
