The writing program is designed to replicate the process and environment of the film and television industry. Our faculty of renowned writers, with credits such as Mr. D, Frontier, Inspector Gadget and Sneaky Pete, add more insights and credibility to the industry-like environment. Online classes are styled after industry writing rooms with collaborative story sessions. You will learn how to pitch, write, produce and edit for all formats of film and television, including sitcoms, one-hour dramas, feature films, new media, broadcast news, commercials and PSAs, and factual entertainment.
To apply for our Writing For Film & TV Associate Diploma you will require:
A Secondary School Diploma (Grade 12) from a Canadian province, territory or equivalent.
If you are over 18 years old and have not graduated from high school, you must complete a mature student test which can be administered online. Please discuss with your Admissions Advisor.
Writing Sample
We want to read your work! Submit a portfolio of at least two creative writing pieces, including any of the following:
Although it isn't required, we encourage you to submit more than two portfolio samples or to supplement your portfolio with any other relevant writing samples. Please note, submitted material will not be returned.
Graduation Requirements
The requirement for graduation is completion of all courses in the chosen program with a 1.7 CGPA in the 4.3 scale or better. Electives if required, and any course with grades W or F must be retaken in order to graduate.
A student is eligible for an associate diploma after successfully completing all graduation requirements.
