About Diploma in Nursing, UG:Diploma - at Universiti Kuala Lumpur (Uni KL)

This course introduces the student to nursing as a professional discipline. It provides the student with knowledge and skills for an exciting career in a variety of nursing roles in various health care institutions. Students spend 3 years full time studying with practical experience in various disciplines at several government hospitals and health clinics in Perak. During this period they will be equipped with relevant exposure and experience for an exciting career in a variety of nursing roles and health care settings. Students in this programme are thaught at UniKL RCMP in Ipoh. Besides that they are also exposed to the clinical teaching and attachments in the Ipoh Hospital and in Teluk Intan Hospital. In addition, they are also attached to many clinics and health centres in the District of Hilir Perak.

UniKL RCMP students are also encourage to be involved in organised field work e.g. at the Orang Asli Settlement. With these structures and organised approaches in the teaching of the nursing students, they will be more prepared to offer health care services to the community. Upon successful completion of the programme, a Diploma will be awarded by the University which is recognized by the Nursing Board of Malaysia. This course of study has attained the official recognition and the academic qualification being conferred is in compliance with the standard and quality set by MQA.

Programme Learning Outcomes (PLOs)

Majors in nursing will be able to:

  • PLO 1
    Apply knowledge of nursing science to promote, maintain and restore health and prevent disease and injury to individuals, families and communities.
  • PLO 2
    Integrate nursing skills to provide effective and comprehensive nursing care using nursing process.
  • PLO 3
    Demonstrate understanding of the societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues toward individuals, families and communities and advocate responsibility for their own health.
  • PLO 4
    Demonstrate commitment and accountability for professional ethics and responsibilities of nursing practice.
  • PLO 5
    Practice effective leadership and teamwork and good communication skills as well as a competent member of a multi-disciplinary healthcare team.
  • PLO 6
    Apply problem-solving skills in providing evidence-based nursing practice.
  • PLO 7
    Recognize the significance of research in nursing practice and develop self-awareness for continuous professional development and lifelong learning.

Notes about fees for this course

The fees for this Diploma amounts 17,200 RM

Entry requirements

SPM : 

Pass SPM with credit for five (5) subjects or related which are

  • -  Credit in Mathematics

  • -  Credit in Science

  • -  Three (3) other subjects

    AND

  • -  Pass in Bahasa Malaysia

  • -  Pass in English

    Health Status

  • Verified to be healthy and pass the medical screening

  • Free from contagious such as AIDS and Hepatitis B & C

  • No epilepsy

  • Good in terms of mental and no physical disability that might

    effects on serving
