Why study Management Infomation Systems?
IT employees are prized by all organizations - but even more valuable are employees who know how to use IT to solve business problems. This program prepares you to become a manager overseeing IT infrastructure and technical strategy.
In taking this program you should also develop expertise in at least one other area of business, such as Accounting, Marketing, Human Resources, Finance, or Operations Management. You'll also have the option to take electives offered by other faculties such as Science and Arts, preparing you for employment in virtually any field.

There is no direct entry from high school into the Bachelor of Commerce program (BCom). Students must first complete a year of university in another Faculty or postsecondary institution and take courses in English, Economics, Mathematics and Statistics. Admission to the BCom is competitive based on performance in the required courses and a student's overall academic record.
The University of Alberta offers a wide ranges of scholarships to international students. You will be evaluated for these scholarships when you apply for admission. Your eligibility will be based on your high school admission average at the time of your admission offer. We'll assess you for a match to the following three schoolarship. If you are eligible for an admission-based scholarship we will contact you directly!
You can also apply for our prestigious application based scholarships. Each year we award twenty five, $120K President's International Distinction scholarships.
