Why take the PharmD for Practicing Pharmacists program?

This program is intended for graduates of a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree. If you do not hold that degree, please see Doctor of Pharmacy (entry-to-practice).

The PharmD for Practicing Pharmacists program combines coursework and practical experience to help position you to practice to a full scope as part of an interdisciplinary team in a variety of settings, including hospitals, primary care and family care clinics, and community practice. You'll also be equipped with the knowledge, skills, and leadership qualities to work in various healthcare settings, organizations, or government agencies.

This program can be completed either On Campus or Distance.

Entry requirements

This program does not allow admission directly from high school.

The minimum requirements for admission to the PharmD program are a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from a recognized institution. Normally, an overall GPA of at least 3.0 or equivalent in a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree is required.

Fees, Funding and Scholarships at University of Alberta

The University of Alberta offers a wide ranges of scholarships to international students. You will be evaluated for these scholarships when you apply for admission. Your eligibility will be based on your high school admission average at the time of your admission offer. We'll assess you for a match to the following three schoolarship. If you are eligible for an admission-based scholarship we will contact you directly!

  • International Admissions Scholarship-up to $5,000
  • Regional Excellence Scholarship- up to $5,000
  • Gold Standard Scholarship- up to $6,000

You can also apply for our prestigious application based scholarships. Each year we award twenty five, $120K President's International Distinction scholarships.
