Building on the University of Derby’s strengths in teacher training and education, we are pleased to be developing a new International Postgraduate Certificate of Education (iPGCE) qualification, due to launch in 2019. The new programme is being designed to meet the interests of both novice and experienced teachers, and will provide students with a theoretical and reflective approach to their practice. This course will not only be attractive to teachers in the UK looking to boost their professional development, but also for those working internationally as it can be studied from anywhere in the world through part-time online learning.
This internationally recognised postgraduate qualification will be unique in its flexibility, it will allow you to study a number of optional areas such as applied pedagogy, evaluating learning, and curriculum challenges, from an international perspective. Furthermore, there will be an option to undertake a module dedicated to inclusion and understanding differences, a highly topical area in the modern teaching environment.
By studying this postgraduate qualification, you will be gaining valuable knowledge relevant to all subjects and curricula, encouraging you to consider new ways of understanding teaching, learning and education in an international context.
The forthcoming International Postgraduate Certificate of Education (iPGCE) will not be a teaching qualification but as a teacher already involved in the international school sector you will benefit highly from this qualification, gaining the professional development necessary to achieve more senior roles, enrich your knowledge, challenge your practice and boost your confidence. You may be inspired to continue onto a Master’s programme such as our online MA Education (with ESOL and Leadership pathways) or other similar Level 7 courses.
Students frequently tell us that one of their favourite things about the online learning experience is hearing the diverse mix of experiences and ideas told by their fellow students in the interactive learning resources UDOL offer, especially when that challenges their own thinking. Our tutors have many years’ experience in the education sector themselves, so they understand your profession and are sympathetic to the pressures of balancing study with a busy teaching job.
