Study
The IMAE programme creates tomorrow's specialists; professionals able to develop and lead ecological projects worldwide with their multi-disciplined skill set. Students of this course will complete a professional specialisation in one of several leading fields of Ecology, such as biodiversity conservation, ecotoxicology or evolutionary ecology.
Structure
During the first year of the programme students attend courses in three different EU countries and travel to Ecuador for a field trip that includes the Galapagos Islands, Ecuadorean Andes and Yasuni Biosphere Reserve. During the second year, students choose a specialisation and are based in one of the IMAE Universities supporting the programme. Fieldwork for the dissertation can also be undertaken in a number of different locations around the world.
Teaching
The IMAE programme explores modules from three different Schools at UEA - Biological Sciences, Environmental Sciences and International Development. This variety gives the student an opportunity to develop exceptional interdisciplinary knowledge.
Employability
Graduates of the IMAE programme have a multiple degree, depending on which universities they engaged with. A final certificate is awarded from the University of Poitiers in France stating all universities where you successfully attended courses. Notably, the second year specialisation provides a graduate with the skills necessary to develop a career in Applied Ecology with a continued multidisciplinary ethos.
