About Media and International Development, MA - at University of East Anglia (UEA)

Study

The MA Media and International Development degree programme addresses current theories, practice and research surrounding the relationship between media and development. Study combines theory and practice through its two specialist media and development modules, giving students the opportunity to produce a dissertation in the summer term or take a work-experience module. The degree is connected with the Public Media Alliance, the largest global association of public broadcasters, contains an optional five-day practical training course, and flexibility to choose module options from other departments at UEA.

Structure

At the core of the programme are two modules. Media and international development, a theory module which provides students with theoretical frameworks for critically understanding the broad range of issues relevant to the relationship between media and development. And Media and Development in Practice, which provides students with the chance to work with a client to design, implement and evaluate a media and development related project in the local community. Students can also opt to do relevant work experience placement rather than write a conventional dissertation.

Teaching

The School of International Development at the University of East Anglia is a globally renowned department for teaching, research and consultancy on international development. Research in the School addresses challenges in developing and transition economies via disciplinary and multi/interdisciplinary approaches. Excellent staff:student ratios and teaching methods mean this School offers small class sizes and a friendly learning environment.
