The Master of Science in Library and Information Management [MSc(LIM)] programme is designed to prepare candidates from all backgrounds and occupations for professional work in the fastest-growing area of the economy, the information sector. The programme provides an opportunity to develop leadership capacities in library and information management.
The MSc(LIM) programme is professionally accredited by the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP) of the UK.
The Faculty is a member of the iSchools. We are recognised as the information professional who possesses the expertise of understanding of the users and users of information, the nature of information itself, as well as information technologies and their applications. We are the only institution in Hong Kong joined the iSchools along with other top-tier members such as University College London, University of California-Berkeley, Carnegie Mellon University, Cornell University, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and University of Toronto.
The MSc(LIM) programme has a modular programme structure, including taught modules, project and dissertation work.
The programme extends over one academic year of full-time study or between two and four years of part-time study. The programme has three terms for each academic year. The three terms begin in September, January and May.

To be eligible for admission to the courses leading to a taught postgraduate qualification, a candidate:
a) shall comply with the General Regulations;
b) shall hold a Bachelor's degree of this University or a qualification of equivalent standard from this University or another comparable institution accepted for this purpose;
c) shall satisfy any other admission requirements which may be prescribed from time to time for the relevant curriculum; and
d) for a candidate who is seeking admission on the basis of a qualification from a university or comparable institution outside Hong Kong of which the language of teaching and/or examination is not English, shall satisfy the University English language requirement applicable to high degrees as prescribed under General Regulation G2(b).
An application for exemption from the above requirements shall be considered on a case by case basis.
