About Master of Nursing, MNurs - at The University of Hong Kong

The Master of Nursing (MNurs) programme provides opportunities for nursing graduates to prepare for advanced nursing practice in keeping with the rapid changes in healthcare in Hong Kong. The curriculum consists of six core courses, three elective courses and a capstone experience which includes a Translational Nursing Research course and a Dissertation. Upon completion of the programme, graduates are able to:

  • Apply competently the advanced knowledge and skills in order to become more autonomous and independent in their practice;
  • Contribute to the advancement of nursing knowledge and practice through research and evidence-based practice;
  • Reflect on their own practice so that they can construct, articulate and evaluate their own philosophy, self-reflection and professional ethics in healthcare practice;
  • Internalise an awareness of the importance of a commitment to lifelong learning and the responsibilities and obligations of being a nursing leader;
  • Lead, collaborate in and coordinate multidisciplinary teamwork; and
  • Provide leadership in the healthcare profession.

Entry requirements

To be eligible for admission to the courses leading to a taught postgraduate qualification, a candidate:

a) shall comply with the General Regulations;

b) shall hold a Bachelor's degree of this University or a qualification of equivalent standard from this University or another comparable institution accepted for this purpose;

c) shall satisfy any other admission requirements which may be prescribed from time to time for the relevant curriculum; and

d) for a candidate who is seeking admission on the basis of a qualification from a university or comparable institution outside Hong Kong of which the language of teaching and/or examination is not English, shall satisfy the University English language requirement applicable to high degrees as prescribed under General Regulation G2(b).

An application for exemption from the above requirements shall be considered on a case by case basis.
