About MBA (The Liverpool MBA) on campus , MBA - at University of Liverpool

The University of Liverpool Management School is one of an elite group of institutions worldwide to be AACSB-Accredited.

The Liverpool MBA aims to attract high quality participants who wish to develop their skills as effective managers and potential leaders. The programme seeks to promote an understanding of core business and management disciplines and to show how they link together strategically and operationally.

The Liverpool MBA gives opportunities to develop business and management specialisms through a wide range of electives. There is a route for students to specialise in business finance if they so wish. The programme emphasises the enhancement of business and management skills – analysis, problem solving, decision-making, effective communication and leadership – which can be applied in the modern organisation. The core elements of the programme – leadership, strategy, managing the environment, managing change and innovation, managing financial resources – are delivered in concentrated blocks to encourage depth of understanding and to facilitate interactive teaching and learning.

A key core module “Developing as a Manager and Leader” runs across two semesters. It has a strong focus on the development of management and leadership skills and knowledge, based on a strong foundation of self awareness. Students access a wide range of diagnostic resources, and also benefit from and apply constructive feedback, networking opportunities, placements, guest speakers, and careers counselling to enable them to apply the theories and concepts to which they are exposed.

Application of theories in practice is a key element of the MBA at Liverpool. Case studies are central to teaching and learning, and work on real projects for organisations – both individual and in groups, is accessible through a range of opportunities including the work based project, the Management Game, and the student-led consultancy service. Another core module “Strategic Management Simulation” runs over a series of blocks, using sophisticated technologies to support group decision making about an organisations’ strategic choices, in a competitive scenario, and to receive the simulated results of these. The electives, which allow focused specialisation or the development of greater breadth, come from a wide range of business and management disciplines and fully reflect the extensive range of expertise in the School and in the wider University.
