About English, BA - at University of Wales Trinity Saint David

Course Overview

This degree combines a commitment to the large historical picture of English studies (from Beowulf to Tom Wolfe) with a responsiveness to new directions and concerns of the subject precipitated by developments in critical and cultural theory.

Designed to offer a challenging and enjoyable intellectual experience; it also provides a foundation for a host of different careers, fostering and developing analytic reading and clear structured writing, independent and cooperative working: skills essential for any modern workplace with its demand for the anaylsis of information and the writing of complex reports.

There is a strong sense of community among students and staff, and the ratio of staff to students is such that students can have ready and easy access to all their lecturers. The small classes are always friendly and never intimidating, allowing staff to get to know their students on a first-name basis.
