OverviewThis course has been designed to provide you will the skills required for a career in fashion promotion and image creation. You will learn all the key skills needed to be successful in this area, whist exploring the practice from a cultural context and gaining an understanding of how this function interconnects with the fashion industry as a whole.
Why choose this course?You will hone your functional understanding of visual promotion and communication, focusing on its application for the fashion industry.  You will explore and develop key skills including photography, styling and PR, whist continuing to cultivate your own communications style through workshops designed to enhance your professional knowledge. A selection of pathway choices allows you to tailor the course to your individual career aspirations.
On completion of this course, you will have a full understanding of how the fashion industry uses visual media to inform, inspire, and engage with its audience to convey a consistent brand message. This is a career-focused course, with many chances to enhance your learning with real-life industry experiences including:
  • work placements
  • collaborative opportunities
  • live briefs.
Career and study progressionYour degree will give you the platform you need to begin your career in the exciting and fast-paced fashion industry. With this degree, you will be able to embark into a role as fashion stylist, PR, photographer, copywriter, journalist or blogger, with many transferrable skills to fully prepare you for a well-rounded start in the world of fashion.
You may also wish to undertake postgraduate study to specialise in a subject you've already studied, or to explore something new.

Funding

Help with funding is available to a range of students, whether you are studying full or part-time, in your home country or overseas.

You may be eligible for a student loan to cover the cost of tuition fees or a maintenance loan to support you during your studies.   • Full Time Undergraduate Bursary: a £3,000 award for new undergraduate students.
  • Path to Success Scholarship: a £4,000 award for students on a four-year degree course with a foundation year.

Please note fees are paid for each year of study unless otherwise stated. You will be required to re-enrol and pay fees at the beginning of each academic year. Fees may be subject to government regulations on fee increases. Future inflationary increases will be applied to each subsequent year of the course, subject to government regulations on fee increases.

Entry requirements

Entry requirements

You will need 112 UCAS tariff points from Level 3 qualifications. These can include:

  • A Levels at grade B, B and C, or above
  • BTEC Extended Diploma with Distinction, Merit, Merit
  • Access to HE Diploma

You also need GCSE English and Maths (grade A*-C) or Level 2 equivalents.

If you do not hold the above qualifications but possess relevant work experience, you are invited to apply. Your application will be considered on an individual basis.

International entry criteria

International students need to meet our English language requirement at either IELTS at 6.0 or above and a minimum of 5.5 for each of the 4 individual components (Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening).
