Qualified adult educators, trainers and development consultants are in high demand as working professionals seek career advancement and specialized training. Yorkville University has responded to this demand with an online Master of Education in Adult Education (M.Ed. in Adult Education) that addresses the unique needs of adult learners in corporate and academic environments.
The M.Ed. in Adult Education program is designed for working professionals who seek opportunities in teaching and training, and are currently employed in industries such as health care, public services, post-secondary education or workforce development.
Highly qualified instructors bring collaborative and contemporary knowledge of adult education and online learning to the online student community.
The curriculum of the MEd builds core competencies, such as evaluation and program development, alongside applied educational research skills. Courses emphasize the value of self-reflection and continued professional development so that students build on and incorporate their work and life experiences. The elective courses allow students to understand a broad range of topics, which will improve their career path, such as: Learning and Teaching Online, Transformative Learning in Adult Education, and Contexts of Learning.
Students of the MEd in Adult Education program can choose between completing an Action Research Project or Major Academic Report. These final projects strengthen link between theory and knowledge and the practical and research skills required for specialization in a field of adult education.
