Interaction design, which is often referred to as IxD, refers to the process of the design and creation of interactive digital products, systems, and services. These might include computer programs, PoS (point of sale) systems, and mobile applications, among others.

The discipline of interaction design takes elements from various other subject areas, like psychology, user experience, and software engineering. The aim of an interaction designer is to create products and services that are simple and efficient for users, as well as looking appealing.

As an area based within the design and digital fields, students with an interest in digital design, user experience and software development might find interaction design an interesting subject to study.
