Summary

Our MSc Artificial Intelligence & Data Science offers a programme of study that has been designed to support the career development of AI and data science professionals by providing graduates with the in-depth knowledge, skills and experience that are required by businesses and organisations in the technology sector.

Employers need to build teams with a diversity of thought and experience because this is both a critical factor in innovative thinking within teams and will facilitate the delivery of solutions applicable to an inclusive society.

Degree Overview

The MSc Artificial Intelligence & Data Science will develop professional practice, contextualised to the workplace using industry-standard technologies and approaches that are shaped by modern businesses. The MSc award is 180 credits and students will be considered part-time. Each course, typically 15 credits, is assessed by a range of activities aligned to industry norms, meaning that almost all assessments align to typical workplace activities that are expected in an AI and data related occupation. The content, and consequently the learning outcomes and methods of assessment, vary between courses.

Approach to Learning

The flexible, part-time structure of this programme allows students to learn at the highest level and progress into higher-skilled occupations. Our programme has been built with an employer group to ensure that learners can be more productive at work as soon as possible, getting involved in activity at work to embed the knowledge, skills, experience and behaviours learned throughout the degree programme.

We deliver our learning for this degree in flexible, modular courses based on each individual's prior knowledge, skills, and experience. We offer multiple start times throughout the year, learning through block sessions, online courses, assignments and project work.

Learners will need to study for approximately 49 days in the first year (committing to one day per week for 44 weeks and one five day online bootcamp) and for approximately 33 days in the second year (one day per week for 28 weeks and one five day online bootcamp).

Career Outcomes

In their daily work, an employee in this occupation interacts with a broad spectrum of people and collaborates with, and provides technical authority and insight to, a diverse business community of Senior Leaders, Data Scientists, Data Engineers, Statisticians, Analysts, Research and Development Scientists and Academics. Their interactions extend to working externally alongside other organisations, such as local and international governments, businesses, policy regulators, academic research scientists and non-technical audiences. They will work independently and collaboratively as required, reporting to Heads of Data, Chief Architects, Company Directors, Product Managers and senior decision makers within any organisation.
