About Journalism, BA, BA (Hons) - at Robert Gordon University
This course includes the study of news, feature writing and production for a wide variety of media including newspapers, magazines, radio, TV and the internet.
You will develop an impressive portfolio of skills in journalistic writing as well as key transferable skills including communication and IT. There are strong links with industry, and you will benefit from guest speakers, visits to local broadcast organisations and taking part in ‘live' client projects.

As well as the compulsory modules, you will also have the opportunity to take external exams in shorthand, news writing and public affairs as prescribed by the National Council for the Training of Journalists.
Entry requirementsSQA Higher: BCCC including English at B.
GCE A Level: CCC including English or Communication.
ILC Higher: BC1C1C1 including English at B.
IB Diploma: 26, to include Higher English at grade 5.
Alternative QualificationsHNC or equivalent qualifications will be considered for year 1 entry. Overseas qualifications and access programmes will be considered on an individual basis. Applications welcomed from students with alternative qualifications and relevant work experience.
Degree Link ProgrammeHND Journalism qualifications from one of our partner FE Colleges will be considered for year 3 entry.
InterviewAcceptance on this course is subject to a successful interview. If you meet the academic criteria you will be asked to demonstrate your particular interest, motivation and experience in pursuing a journalistic career. You are also encouraged to have completed some relevant work experience before applying to this course.
Placements and accreditationsThe six week placement in year 3 provides you with an invaluable opportunity to put your skills and knowledge to the test in an appropriate journalism and media-based environment, as well as form excellent links with potential future employers.
Fees and bursariesUK/EU Students- New students: £1820 for academic year 2010/11
Students from Scotland and the EU are not liable to pay fees and should apply to SAAS for funding.
