About Advanced Master in Innovation & Strategic Management, Advanced Master - at Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management

The Advanced Master in Innovation & Strategic Management provides students with the essential tools, skills and mindset needed to deal with the challenge of organisations in fast-evolving environments. It helps them to develop their ability to analyse complex challenges, integrate technology and innovation into their projects or businesses, and influence their environment early on in their careers.

It covers the main management disciplines with a particular focus on the future developments of the market and emerging technologies. It embraces innovation from a wide variety of angles, ranging from technological advances to the transformation of existing business models and organisational forms. The students personalize their educational path by selecting one of the 3 minors available: Entrepreneurship, Strategy and Business Analytics.

During the programme, students develop their ability to grasp innovative opportunities and understand the dominant strategic logic in many different sectors around the world.

Our teaching methods are very hands-on and participant-centred. Classes are intentionally limited to manageable-sized and coherent cohorts, ensuring maximum participation and easy access to the faculty. Courses are mainly structured into case studies, workshops, discussions, simulations, group work, coaching sessions, and on-the-job learning.

Programme objectives

The programme highlights the importance of innovation and helps instil a strategic approach. It will help you to develop your entrepreneurial skills and to understand the dominant strategic logic in many different sectors around the world. You will master key management concepts and learn how to drive innovation projects.

Every year, we fine-tune the program. We have introduced two major new initiatives: the European Innovation Tour (2 short study trips in top innovation hubs across Europe) and an upgraded field project where students will have to do a strategy consulting assignment in one “Innovative Scale-up”. Instead of the field project, students can choose to participate in coding courses by the coding school Le Wagon.

By the end of the programme you will be able to:

  • Make informed choices about strategic & innovation issues carrying a high degree of uncertainty
  • Solve complex business & radical innovation issues
  • Work in or lead teams in charge of change management or innovation projects
  • Integrate technological advances and opportunities into existing business models
