About Forensic Science with Criminology, BSc (Hons) - at University of Greenwich

Forensic scientists utilise skills from a wide range of academic disciplines. This programme's regular laboratory sessions, practical scenarios in our mock crime scenes and lectures from experts in their field give an insight into the fascinating world of present day forensic science.

Professional development

Students can also become members of the Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences and be invited to attend the society's regular seminars across the country.

Criminology

The criminology courses introduce the more social aspects of forensic science and the relationship between crime and society. Students are also exposed to other aspects such as crime scene investigation and presenting evidence in a legal setting.

Location

You will study science elements on the Medway Campus and criminology elements on the Greenwich Campus. An inter-campus bus runs between Medway and Greenwich.

Outcomes

The aims of the programme are to produce graduates with:

  • The necessary knowledge base and practical skills to become effective forensic scientists who are competent to practice
  • Confidence and ability to apply fundamental scientific principles to a variety of practical forensic science situations and specifically within a legal framework
  • Skills to identify and solve problems, and to understand and use quantitative techniques for the analysis and interpretation of data for the evaluation and presentation of evidence
  • Competent legal, sociological and criminological understanding of forensic science.
