Practised in the East for thousands of years, acupuncture isone of the oldest systems of medicine. It looks at patients as wholeindividuals – acupuncturists use a wide range of diagnostic techniques andconsider all signs and symptoms as related to each other. Very fine needles are inserted at specificacupuncture points on the patient's body in order to restore balance andhealth. Today, it is used to treat a wide range of chronic and acute conditionsand its use is recognised by the NHS and the World Health Organisation.
