This programme allows you to specialise in national and international history with the option of also incorporating courses from a variety of other subjects such as politics, English, sociology or a foreign language.
You will study history at a World Heritage Site, itself a living legacy of British scientific, maritime and imperial history. We take full advantage of our historically and culturally rich location and proximity to central London, incorporating visits to museums and archives into our courses.
Our teaching is actively driven by our research interests and publications and the programme explores a wide range of topics, including genocide, gender, the Ottoman empire, the World Wars and maritime and environmental history.
Work placementYou will also have the opportunity to undertake a work placement (Year 2 or 3) and/or a dissertation (Year 3). The work placement allows you to develop practical and professional skills and to gain practical experience of working a history-related profession.
CourseworkThe dissertation enables you to work on a topic of your own choosing and to put into practice the skills of analysis and research developed in Years 1 and 2.
OutcomesThe aims of the programme are:
