This programme will allow you to combine the study of history and English. You will study at a World Heritage Site, itself a living legacy of British scientific, maritime and imperial history, as well as a thriving multicultural centre of contemporary Britain. The history pathway explores a wide range of historical topics, from global events to community history, and from witchcraft to the World Wars.
You will also have the opportunity to develop your research skills and to develop practical and professional skills through a work placement.
The English element of the programme emphasises literature of the last two centuries, including fiction and poetry, visual art, film and theatre. The programme looks at the historical, social and cultural contexts in which texts are produced and received.
Both disciplines take full advantage of our culturally and historically rich location and proximity to central London. Visits to theatres, art galleries and museums are integral to many of our modules.
OutcomeThe aims of the programme are:
Your time at university should be enjoyable and rewarding, and it is important that it is not spoilt by unnecessary financial worries. We recommend that you spend time planning your finances, both before coming to university and while you are here. We can offer advice on living costs and budgeting, as well as on awards, allowances and loans.
