Our world is increasingly shaped by cyberspace, a vast network of digital devices which store, modify and transfer information. Vehicles, architectural infrastructure, industrial controls, finance flows and medical devices all operate across the cyber domain. Its influence continues to grow, as does the associated security risk. Studying Cyber Security at Warwick will deepen your cyberspace knowledge, so you’ll understand the nature of this evolving cyber environment, and how to protect and enhance the human experience within it.
Both Cyber Security programmes include the core modules of: Security Architectures and Network Defence; Cryptosystems and Data Protection; Information Risk Management and Governance; Digital Forensics, Evidence and Intelligence; and Industrial Espionage and Counterfeiting.
Students on the Cyber Security Engineering course will then take the additional core modules of Cyber Intelligence and Operations; Cyber-Physical Systems; and Enterprise Cyber Security. Module assessment will be technically deeper than that on the CSM course.
Students on the Cyber Security and Management course will have relevant optional modules relating to various aspects of management in context. The above CSE modules can also be taken as electives if desired. All modules feature real-world teaching input from major national and international organisations. That means you’ll learn from the likes of IBM, PwC, Nettitute, Dstl, and UK law enforcement and government agencies. You’ll gain a complete appreciation of digital technology within enterprise — from reconfiguring firewalls during cyber-attacks to persuading the board to take new risks.
These courses will leave you in an excellent position for a fast-advancing career in a rapidly growing industry. Our graduates work in a number of commercial, industrial and public sector roles at strategic and operational levels, carrying increasing responsibility for cyber security across the globe. Both CSE and CSM are provisionally certified by GCHQ.
“A number of people I spoke to in India recommended WMG and of course, the University’s ranking speaks for itself. The programme itself looked very interesting, particularly the way it focuses not just on technology, but how it fits within the broader global business context.”
