Entry requirements

Entry requirements

There are several routes a healthcare practitioner may take to access this course. You may enter the course:

1) With a Diploma in Higher Education (120 credits at Level 4 and 120 credits at Level 5). If you enter via this route you will study 120 L6 academic credits with us in order to achieve the award of BSc (Hons) Professional Practice.

2) With a Diploma in Higher Education (120 credits at Level 4 and 120 credits at Level 5) and up to a maximum of 60 Level 6 post-qualifying academic credits, successfully completed at another UK University/Universities. If you have a Diploma and have successfully completed up to a maximum of 60 L6 credits at another UK University, you may be able to obtain recognition of this prior study and use the credits towards this award (if approved by the University's Accreditation Committee). This is called advanced standing. These L6 credits must not normally be more than 4 years old and should reflect the learning outcomes of the course. Your Course Leader will be on hand to advise you and take you through the University's processes. The number of credits you'll study with us, will depend on the number of credits you're applying for advancing standing for. For example a student who is permitted advanced standing of a L6 20 credit mentorship module from another UK University, will only need to study 100 of the 120 credits required for the award with us.

3) With an Advanced Diploma (120 credits at Level 4, 120 credits at Level 5 and 60 credits at Level 6) from UWL. This prior certificated learning must not normally be more than 4 years old. Your Course Leader will help you submit an application to the University's Accreditation Committee. Following successful approval you'll be granted 'advanced standing' of 60 L6 academic credits. This means you'll need to study 60 Level 6 academic credits with us in order to achieve the award of BSc (Hons) Professional Practice.

4) With an Advanced Diploma in Nursing (120 credits at Level 4, 120 credits at Level 5 and 60 credits at Level 6) from another University in the UK. This prior certificated learning must not normally be more than 4 years old. Your Course Leader will help you submit an application to the University's Accreditation Committee. Following successful approval you'll be granted 'advanced standing' of usually 60 L6 academic credits. This means you'll usually need to study 60 Level 6 academic credits with us in order to achieve the award of BSc (Hons) Professional Practice.

5) Without a Diploma - Professional and practical experience or other capabilities relevant to the course may be considered for those without a Diploma, this would require demonstration of achievement of Level 5 SEEC descriptors through a portfolio, identifying continued professional development. The course leader can tell you more about this process.
